Can I take this course even if I'm a complete baking beginner?

Of course! This course is really intended to guide you through the whole process of sourdough baking - from creating and feeding your starter, shaping and fermenting the dough, to baking bread, pizza, and focaccia. You don’t need any experience to get started: everything is shown in detail in video so you can follow along and know what to do.

Will I still learn something as an experienced home baker?

You probably will! True, if you’re already an experienced home baker, many of the concepts will be familiar to you. Nevertheless, you will discover Martino’s way of baking with sourdough which in many ways is different from other books and resources out there. The bread, for instance, tends to be less sour, the starter will be handled and re-fed in a specific way, and the pizza and focaccia will be made in an authentic Italian way.

Will I need to buy any fancy equipment for this course?

Not really. You will need the baking basics, obviously: a banneton, spatulas, a bench knife, bowls and containers to mix and store the dough, a digital scale to measure the ingredients. If you want to become more advanced, you might want to invest in an electric dough proofer (highly recommended), a kitchen thermometer, or even a ph-meter. This, of course, is totally up to you: you can start baking with just having the basic tools in the kitchen.

How long does it take me to finish this course?

It depends. Going simply through all of the videos and course materials will probably take you around 2 hours. If you start to follow along and create your own starter, mix and shape the bread, and bake your own bread at home, it will obviously take several days to finish.
